Botox and Fillers

Botox Cosmetic (ALLERGAN) is a non-surgical, physician administered aesthetic treatment used to control the wrinkles in motion -the frown lines, crow's feet and fine lines that appear as we age. Tiny injections are placed into the muscle creating the wrinkle. Within 2-7 days, the wrinkle will disappear as the muscle contractions are actually reduced. Botox should be administered without creating a "frozen" or artificial looking expression and is particularly effective on the glabella (those lines between the brows (often called the ANGRY ELEVEN!). Results generally last up to four months and it wears off gradually.

Dermal "Fillers" are used for wrinkles at rest -those wrinkles that cannot be eliminated by Botox alone because of their depth and skin laxity. Juvederm (ALLERGAN) is a popular choice and the one we currently use most often at Changes MedSpa. It is "new generation" filler due to the high content of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid and the unique smooth texture. It has been clinically proven to last nine to twelve months, which is an improvement over other earlier options. Injectable fillers are very effective especially in the nasal labial folds, marionette's lines and as a lip filler and enhancer. Restylane, Radiesse and Sculptra are also popular choices.
